The PENNZOIL Cat repeated 1995's strong 3rd. place
finish in this years 1996 PALM BEACH COUNTY
OFFSHORE GRAND PRIX
In a short (less then 70 Mi.) 7 lap race, the Shadow Cat
started first and raced hard registering the fastest lap
of the day for Pro-Outboards and averaging just over
80 mph. in a good chop.
"The race was coming to us", said our "T" man
Nicky Cutro, "...We just ran out of laps...", noting our
average race is over 100 miles. "..The boat was getting
lighter..(less fuel) the water rougher..our kind of race."
Finishing first was P-69 NOTORIOUS With 81.36 mph
and total time of 45:55 Second was P-7 PATRIOT
...Last years winner of this race with 80.42 mph / 46:28
We finished third just 12 seconds back with average speed
80.05 mph / 46:40
Our friendly rival P-4 RESTORE with Charlie Hiames
finished 4th. with 79.24 and total time of 47:09
Point Pleasent - NJ (July 17, 1996)
We win again 2 years in a row!
8 laps 80 miles unofficial time 84:39 an 56.64 mph
Led by as much as 60 seconds first 4 laps
Shane (driver) suffered injuries to his arm but is o.k.
JAWS, P-17... Was 2nd in 84:49 and 56.56 mph
JAWS past us on lap 7 backstrech. Then we got
the lead back on next turn and beat him by 10 seconds.
P-7 STYLIN... Distant 3rd with 53.41 mph
This is the team that beat us in lake Winnipeasauke.
N.H.They just didn't have the stomach for the
rougher water of the Atlantic

PENNZOIL P-70 finished a strong 2nd. behind
P-17 STYLIN also of Lake George NY.
A three team battle raged with P-85 JAWS placing
3rd. PENNZIOL lead most of the 8 lap race but
on the last lap with the fuel tanks getting
empty, P-17 (a lighter boat) captured the
checkered flag. We'll see him in the big water
at Pt. Pleasant, NJ.
