Cigarette Racing Team Presents NEW YORK SUPER BOAT GRAND PRIX  

Boardwalk Racing / Pennzoil In Showcase Run For New Major Sponsor Next Season 

Last year’s winner in the Pro-Stock class will be here to defend their honor and provide potential sponsors with an exciting opportunity to review their program. The popular P70 team will be ending their Pennzoil affiliation this year and are currently reviewing proposals for a new major sponsorship. 

Pennzoil, who has run a limited schedule in 1999, was victorious in Lake Winnipesaukee, NH earlier this year in a thrilling nationally televised race that saw the “Boys In Yellow” defeat the current National Champion boat “Hooters”. 

This year’s extravaganza on New York’s Hudson River will include a new Super Luxury Class starting at 11AM Sunday, and all other SBIP National classes starting at 1:00 PM.  Launching and Pit Areas will be at the Liberty Landing Marina at Liberty State Park, NJ (Exit 14C NJ Turnpike, Audrey Zapp Rd.). With many on-going activities and “Meet The Racers” parties Friday and Saturday nights, the event should prove memorable. 

Last summer in Sarasota, Florida, the Pennzoil skater catamaran emerged victorious in the challenge for the world speed record in the Kilo Run.  Breaking it’s own 6 year old record in the Pro-stock series in 1992 at 113.06 MPH under another owner and name, the official record for this effort stands at 115.455 MPH. “That record stood up to a Kilo challenge this summer…” throttleman and team owner Nicky Cutro added… “We’re still the boat to beat!” That fact is reflected in their 1998 accomplishments that include at least a second place finish in all their races and first place wins in Chesapeake, MD,

St. Petersburg, FL, as well as New York. This Super Boat International (SBI) event will be nationally televised on ESPN2 - Sunday Sept. 26^th at 2:00 PM EST and again on Wednesday Sept. 29^th at 1:30 and 2:30 AM EST. 

 The team and owner/throttleman Nicky Cutro will be available for pictures and interviews at the race site Friday, September 10 through Sunday, September 12.
