Nicky Cutro’s Mercury / Boardwalk Offshore Racer Tunes Up For 2000
Season. The 2000 Offshore Racing Season is in gear and
a preview is featured in Lake George this year. The lake is alive
with activity as the Fourth Annual Queen’s Great Boat Race Weekend
takes place May 19 – 21 in Lake George, New York.
On
Sunday, 2PM, World and National Champion Nicky Cutro will
participate in a demonstration race with other offshore boats from
the area. The festivities will begin at a pre-race party Saturday
night, at the Boardwalk Restaurant & Marina, Lower Amherst, Lake
George Village starting 8PM. Drink specials and giveaways all night
and appearances by Team Pennzoil P-70 and others promise to
jump-start the weekend filled with events and attractions. The
team’s 32’ triple engine Shadow Cat racer will be on display at
the Boardwalk all weekend. Other events include a Rowing Regatta,
Children’s Bouncy House, an Art in the Park Festival,
Balloon Festival, Spring Boat Show, International Food Court,
Street Entertainment and Live Music.
A
highlight of the schedule is the Queen’s Great Boat Race from
Bolton to the Village finishing with a Victory Party and Giant
Fireworks display. This race is between the excursion boats that
cruise the lake throughout the season.
The 1998 – 1999 seasons
have been outstanding for the Boardwalk Team. Three time World and
National Champion Nicky Cutro’s 17 years of offshore racing
experience proved nearly unstoppable on the national circuit,
finishing at least second place in all of their races and first
place finishes in Chesapeake, St. Petersburg, Lake Winnipesaukee,
and New York.
